Nancy Berkowitz is a Certified Level 3 Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist and an IFS Approved Clinical Consultant. She has over 20 years’ experience as a therapist, and she has been deeply involved in IFS since 2007. She has focused on Somatic IFS (SIFS) since 2010. Somatic IFS is a body-centered approach to therapy that uses awareness, breath, resonance, movement, and touch to make body-sense more conscious. Nancy integrates somatic practices into her work and has extensive experience assisting IFS trainings, SIFS retreats, and SIFS trainings. She truly enjoys sharing and helping people deepen their IFS practice using a body-centered approach. She employs meditations, experiential exercises, and lively discussions in her retreats and consultations.

Nancy is credentialed to care for people across the lifespan as both a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and a Psychiatric Clinical Specialist. Her background is especially relevant to incorporating the body in her therapy practice and in her guiding other therapists. She is in private practice, and she sees people via both telehealth and in person in her Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts office. Her approach is highly individualized and deeply respectful of the people in her care. She utilizes Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Somatic IFS in her clinical work and in her personal life. She also has a background in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) which informs her work. She has studied Polyvagal work with Deb Dana. She appreciates and utilizes feedback from those in her care and from participants in trainings and programs. She is passionate about incorporating people’s comments and suggestions in her work.

In 2026, Nancy is leading two IFS body-centered retreats in Costa Rica. She has a group consultation, starting in the fall of 2025 with a maximum of six participants, and she also is available for individual consultation. She is not taking any new patients in her private practice.
‘Nancy will bring her extensive experience staffing Somatic IFS retreats and trainings to these retreats for personal growth and deepening your IFS practice through a Somatic IFS lens.’
